This body of work marks a definitive homecoming, anchoring decades of international exploration — from the Shanghai World Exposition and Auckland to New York's SoHo — back into the cultural heart of Papua New Guinea.
It was made, not assembled. Across a 2026 residency at the Sheraton Port Moresby, every canvas was painted live before an audience — each one the featured act of a musical showcase, begun and finished inside a single evening. Nothing here was reworked in a studio afterwards; what hangs on the wall is exactly what the room watched arrive.
The imagery fuses the meticulous discipline of studio portraiture with the electric, raw vitality of urban documentation, capturing the complex human narratives of the region through textured, high-impact compositions.
The painting process is an intense negotiation between structured form and spontaneous energy, mirroring the cadence of live musical collaboration. Layers of rich pigment and energetic stroke work are built up organically, allowing the canvas to absorb the physical and rhythm-driven motion central to the artist's performance practice. This method treats the surface not merely as a flat plane but as a living archive of movement, colour, and cultural resonance.

Sovereign Vibe runs for eleven days in the Main Foyer of the Sheraton Port Moresby — returning the collection to the room in which every canvas was painted. Daily live painting, live music and the audience canvas run throughout.

Jeffry Feeger is a contemporary Papua New Guinean visual artist, live-performance painter and social advocate, based in Alotau, Milne Bay Province.
Operating as a full-time professional independent artist since 2003, Feeger has established an extensive career spanning studio portraiture, raw documentation of everyday urban and market life, and dynamic live-performance painting.
He rose to international prominence in 2010 at the Shanghai World Exposition, pioneering live-performance painting through collaborations centred at the Angola Pavilion, where he also held his first-ever solo exhibition showcasing the live works he produced across the Expo site. Building on that momentum, he won first place in an artist battle — an international live-painting competition held within Shanghai City later the same year.
Marking a major career milestone, Sovereign Vibe represents Feeger's first comprehensive solo presentation on home soil in Papua New Guinea — a showcase that serves as a testament to an artist dedicated to charting the nation's cultural, historical and human journey.

The Sovereign Vibe Collection comprises thirty works — eleven forming the Core Collection, the remainder the precursors that led to those final pieces. Twenty-six are available for acquisition. A first selection is shown below; the complete body of work is unveiled at the Sheraton Port Moresby from 27 October 2026.
